According to Bragantini (1979) –

West wall with hole made by ancient searchers:

the zoccolo was painted black with panels with “carpet” borders of two parallel lines separated by narrow compartments.

The middle zone had a central yellow panel and red side panels.

The upper zone was white with a stucco cornice.

The central yellow panel would have contained a medallion, now completely faded, that showed a young girl with a scroll.

Other medallions were in the red side panels.

Mau thought that, almost certainly, on this pilaster facing onto the atrium would have been a personification of either autumn or winter, as was seen on the pilasters between rooms h and i, and f and e.
