According to Fiorelli, this painting (0.37 x 0.39) represented sleeping Ganymede (on the left?), sleeping lying on a rock, holding a hunting spear in his left hand and placing his right hand on top of his head, adorned with a nimbus. He was all naked except for a purple cloak and green shoes.
To his right (our left) we see the eagle, it was in the attitude of flying from the branch towards the sleeping hunter.
See Notizie degli Scavi di Antichitŕ, 1877, (p.249)
According to Mau, found on the left wall (0.40 high x 0.37 wide) was Ganymede (with brown complexion) sleeping sitting on a rock, with feet crossed to the left wearing green boots: his right arm resting on his head, with his face looking frontwards, and covered by a beret; holding in his left hand (his arm was wrapped in his cloak which also lay across his left thigh) was a spear. On a tree on the left was the Eagle of ugly form and poor dimensions, turned towards the young man.
See Bullettino dell’Instituto di Corrispondenza Archeologica (DAIR), 1879, (p.203, no: 63).
