Richardson described this as “Paintings show vistas of architecture, a temenos containing a Tholos flanked by symmetrical panels of cityscape.”  See Richardson, L., 1988. Pompeii: an Architectural History. Baltimore: John Hopkins University Press. (p.165).

According to Fiorelli in PAH, II, (p.316) –
10th September 1835. And in the floor of the small room on the right, near to the right corner at the head of the magnificent tablinum, we have discovered a square mosaic sized 10.37 inches squared (0.26m squared) or in italian “di pal. 1 in quadro”, embedded in a piece of marble, showing a partridge in the act of removing a jewel from a beautiful chest whose lid was overturned.”
