The structure on the left is the modern railway and foot bridge which blocks the ancient route of the Via dell’Abbondanza.

The continuation of the Via dell'Abbondanza, the ancient road from the gate, now blocked by the railway, is to the extreme left running west to east.
The paved area to the right of the Via dell’Abbondanza is a secondary road leading to the road that runs around the city walls.
