According to NdS, on the 23rd November 1886 began the excavation of the insula to the east of the Insula of the Centenario.

Sogliano wrote in 1888, that the first two properties had been entirely unearthed by then.

At the front near the entrance was the usual sales-counter, its sides covered with plaster imitating coloured marble, and fragments of marble slabs covering its counter-top.

It contained four large terracotta dolia, one of which was partly hidden under the five small display shelves.

In the west wall was a semi-circular niche for the worship of the household gods.

Near the south-west corner was a low structure, which served perhaps as the hearth.

Next to the structure was the mouth of a cistern.

In this corner was a little doorway which at one time was linked to the house, and then walled up by the ancients themselves.
