According to Warscher –

This photo was taken from the pseudo-peristyle: they had constructed a room in the west part.

Through the doorway one sees the north wall of room 13 with the wretched remains of a painting.

Boyce described this as a rectangular panel of white stucco, with a square niche set into it.

Boyce said below the niche was a heavy ledge, richly adorned with complex triple frieze of various designs of polychrome modelled stucco.

Upon it rested the bases of applied half-columns with capitals that supported the pedestal.

All three cornices surrounding the tympanum were decorated with stucco friezes.

The whole façade was decorated with red stripes against the white stucco background.

According to Boyce, the back wall of the niche was painted in red above, in the yellow of variegated imitation marble below.

Cut into the niche there was an arched semi-circular recess.

A low base for a statue stood on the floor of this recess.

The vaulted ceiling of the recess was modelled as a plaster shell, and there was a stucco moulding around the curve of the recess.

According to Boyce, the plaster panel below the niche was painted yellow, and marked off by a broad red band.

Upon this yellow background, in stucco relief were the figures of the two serpents confronted at an altar of a vase-like shape.
