According to Jashemski, the garden at the rear of the tablinum (excavated in 1872) had a portico on the north, east and south.
It was supported by five columns, all fluted, red on the bottom, white on the top.
There was a gutter around the edges of the garden.
A garden painting decorated the west and north walls of the portico.

According to Hobson, in 1900 the excavation of four latrines by Sogliano was recorded in the Notizie di Scavi.
These all drained into cesspits of varying depths, the latrine at VII.7.10 resembled a cistern, lined with plaster, with a mouth 0.60m in diameter, and a bell-shaped expansion below ground to a depth of 5.3m.
This cesspit also had a branch at the bottom turning south towards Via Marina.
The content of the cesspit was volcanic debris.

VII.7.10 Pompeii. 1900. Description of sewage system found in four
properties.
The earliest sewage system consisted of
collecting sewage from under the houses, in cesspools at the latrines, and
leaving it there for a longer or shorter time. These wells varied in structure
and size and, to give an idea, four are mentioned here.

Finally,
the fourth pit, under the latrine of house no. 10 of Is. VII of Reg. VII, so
closely resembles one of the cisterns, such as are found in Pompeian houses, as
to lead one to believe that such was its first purpose. It is entirely of
masonry, covered with brick plaster; its mouth is 0.60 m. in diameter, but then
it widens bell-shaped towards the bottom, up to a depth of 5.30 m., and from
the bottom a short section branches off, which runs south towards the Via Marina.
All the aforementioned pits were found filled with
the volcanic deposits that cover the city of Pompeii; and only in the second of
them was a layer of dark-colored substances found, from which a nauseating
stench emanated.
