VII.4.31/51 Pompeii.
Looking south-east from the north-west corner towards the east portico of the north peristyle, showing the brick edged flower-bed.
According to Jashemski, the garden area was divided by a shallow square pool (1.15 x 1.15m) with a marble fountain in the centre.
On each side of the pool was an imperfectly preserved planting bed, consisting of bricks set on edge arranged to form four concentric circles within two rectangles.
Only the west half of the bed to the north of the pool is visible today.

VII.4.31/51 Pompeii. March 2009. North peristyle, east portico. Remains of an olive press.
It is not clear whether it now stands exactly where the original excavators found it, but so massive a block is unlikely to have been moved any great distance.
