VI.2.22 Pompeii. c.1930. Flooring from an unknown room, perhaps triclinium or tablinum.
According to Blake –
An effect somewhat similar to that produced by narrow border strips to set off pieces of marble is obtained in VI.2.22, by the use of rows of mosaic between simple squares of grey marble. The whole is enclosed in a border of white triangles set tip to base, a design not unknown in the first century BC.
The cement paving of the rest of this room, and for that matter of the greater part of the house, ……. etc. (p.42).

VI.2.22 or VI.1.25 Pompeii.
The lower watercolour sketch says it is a mosaic in the 2nd house Pompei, which is from VI.2.22, either the tablinum or a triclinium.
The central sketch is part of a mosaic in the atrium of the House of Salve.
The upper sketch appears to be a garland from the Pantheon (VII.9.7) which it said had a black background.
