II.2.2 Pompeii. December 2005. Room “f”, south wall of oecus. The painting of the priest of Isis was found on the west side of the south wall. Underneath it was written the inscription AMISUSIUS LoreiUS TIBURTinus. According to Warscher (1930) it was supposed that he was the owner of the house. See Warscher, T., 1930. Pompeii in three hours. Rome, (p.134) According to Varone and Stefani, under the figure was CIL IV 7534, which is no longer readable. See Varone, A. and Stefani, G., 2009. Titulorum Pictorum Pompeianorum, Rome: L’erma di Bretschneider, (p.198 with photo)

II.2.2 Pompeii. December 2005. Room “f”, south wall of oecus.

The painting of the priest of Isis was found on the west side of the south wall. Underneath it was written the inscription -

AMISUSIUS LoreiUS TIBURTinus.

According to Warscher (1930) it was supposed that he was the owner of the house.

See Warscher, T., 1930. Pompeii in three hours. Rome, (p.134)

According to Varone and Stefani, under the figure was CIL IV 7534, which is no longer readable.

See Varone, A. and Stefani, G., 2009. Titulorum Pictorum Pompeianorum, Rome: L’erma di Bretschneider, (p.198 with photo).

According to Garcia y Garcia, this room also suffered due to the bombing of 19th September 1943.

Partly damaged was the south wall of the white oecus in IV Style.

The other walls also suffered from the fall and partial loss of the painted stucco, which was largely saved and restored from numerous small fragments.

See Garcia y Garcia, L., 2006. Danni di guerra a Pompei. Rome: L’Erma di Bretschneider. (p.45-47).

Kuivalainen describes the upper central figure as partially destroyed, and comments –

“Young sitting Bacchus, on account of the pose and the thyrsus. The decoration clearly indicates cultic purposes.”

See Kuivalainen, I., 2021. The Portrayal of Pompeian Bacchus. Commentationes Humanarum Litterarum 140. Helsinki: Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters, (p.102, B15).
