According to Fiorelli, this area was a workshop with extra rooms, altered however from their antique configuration by the passage and tunnelling of the Sarno canal. The canal was constructed by Fontana (1594-1600). Now one only sees the remains of the washhouses and the furnaces, that once existed here.
