According to Maiuri –
At the corner of the shop at no.12, and therefore at the
crossroads formed by the intersection of the Via dell’Abbondanza with the
roadway between Insulae IV and VI of Reg. I, and Insulae I and VII of Reg. IX (so-called
Vicolo di Tesmo), there is the usual masonry altar (height 1.06m) which would
have been brought to light at the beginning of the new excavations on the Via
dell’Abbondanza.
Only a few insignificant traces of the sacred figuration remain
painted on the plaster above the altar.
See Notizie
degli Scavi, 1929, (p. 428-9).
(Ara Compitale –
