HGE38 Pompeii. Herculaneum Gate East Side. Tomb of M. Popidius (Kockel).

Tomb of L. Ceius Labeo or Sepolcro di Labeone (Eschebach).

Excavated 1812-1813. (Eschebach East 38, Kockel Nord 38).

 

According to Kockel, a marble plaque broken in two pieces was found in the ground nearby and belongs to this grave.

This records the inscription M POPIDIVS AP F.

Now in Naples Archaeological Museum.

 

It is recorded in CIL X 957.

M(arcus) Popidius Ap(pi) f(ilius)      [CIL X 957].

HGE38 Pompeii. According to Kockel, on the 20th April 1813 a marble plaque with remains of stucco on the edges was found at the side of the tomb. 
He attributes it to HGE39. Eschebach attributes it to HGE38. It had the inscription

HGE38 Pompeii. According to Kockel, on the 20th April 1813 a marble plaque with remains of stucco on the edges was found at the side of the tomb.

He attributes it to HGE39. Eschebach attributes it to HGE38. It had the inscription
