IX.1.7 Pompeii. December 2007. West wall of triclinium. According to PPP, the decorative scheme on this wall differed from the other walls because of the side panels. They were on a yellow background but with blue insert with a red border and medallions. On the north end (right) on the blue background would have been the medallion (diam. 0.28) showing Hercules and Omphale. On the south end (left) would have been the medallion showing a Maenad and Silenus with thyrsus and cup. The zoccolo/plinth was black and would have showed traces of birds with long legs.

IX.1.7 Pompeii. December 2007. North wall in north-west corner of triclinium, with recess.
The black zoccolo was divided into panels, above it, the predella which was divided by a pilaster, contained two paintings but only one now remains. According to Sogliano, the painting showed a Psyche in a cart pulled by two goats and being led by a cupid, whilst another Psyche, wearing a green robe, followed it.

IX.1.7 Pompeii. Pre 1942. Detail of painting in predella.
According to Warscher –
Underneath the removed painting was a frieze showing a bacchic procession. We see a chariot with two goats, despite the fact that the figure on the wagon is unfortunately damaged in an unrecognizable way, we must assume that it is Venus. In front of the wagon was un Eros holding a large quiver full of arrows.
