According to Helbig, on the outside wall between VII.3.11 and VII.3.10, on the left, there was a faint trace of a painted Lar with a situla.

According to Boyce, the inside walls of this arched niche were coated in red stucco.

Fiorelli called it la nicchia dei Penati.
