V.1.18 Pompeii. December 2007. Room “l” on north side of corridor, looking west.
According to NdS, in this exedra the painted walls had a black dado and each wall was divided into panels of red and yellow.
On the red panels were three paintings, but only one was preserved.
This showed a bearded Satyr and a Bacchante.
In the yellow panel at the side, one could see a Satyr carrying a Bacchante on his shoulders.

V.1.18 Pompeii. 1882 painting of wall with bacchante group. Room “l”, north wall.
See Presuhn E., 1882. Pompeji: Die Neuesten Ausgrabungen von 1874 bis 1881. Leipzig: Weigel. Abtheilung II, p. 4, Taf. VI.
According to Presuhn;
“At the Peristyle, accessible through a door of the fauces “h”, there is a small living room or bedroom, which by its very rich, well executed and interesting decoration has a high value. Unfortunately, it has fallen quickly into ruin; but we did leave immediately after the excavation with all the details of all the walls, in the best copy, and intend to produce an attractive publication with these plates.
The centre wall is bounded above by a wide cornice painted stucco.
We have copied a wall panel with an intermediate field at h=“l north wall” (Tafel VI). where the piece was unfortunately shortly afterwards lost to moisture and frost. The opposite field (with i= “l south wall”) shows a similar Bacchante group very well preserved. and even more green and yellow monochrome can also be found on the walls; similar to the sea centaur on our page. A panel from a central field is in the museum at Naples.”
